ATLANTA (December 12th,  2020) – The Allen Morris Company, one of the largest diversified real estate firms in the southeast, today announced that Alabama-based Prevail Roasters will make its Atlanta debut at their newly-opened Star Metals Residences, the residential component of the transformative Star Metals district in West Midtown Atlanta. Residents will begin enjoying Prevail Roasters in October.

Founders Wade & Megan Preston opened their first coffee house, Prevail Union, in 2013 in Auburn, Alabama; followed by the 2016 opening of what has become the brand’s flagship location in Montgomery. Prevail Union Montgomery stands directly across from the nation’s most historic sites, including the church where Dr. Martin Luther King preached and the bus stop where Rosa Parks first boarded in 1955 – both seminal events in the civil rights movement. Since opening the first shop, the company has evolved by beginning its own roasting operation, sourcing a myriad of coffee varieties from across the globe.

“We are proud to have Prevail Roasters open within the Star Metal Residences lobby,” said W. Allen Morris, Chairman and CEO of The Allen Morris Company. “They will play an integral part in creating the type of special experiences we are excited to offer our residents. Prevail has a reputation for truly caring about and contributing positive impacts within the communities they serve. We truly cannot think of a more incredible addition to West Midtown!”

Preston, Prevail’s CEO and Head Roaster, began his coffee career almost a decade ago as an Atlanta area barista and has since become one of the most decorated coffee professionals in the Southeast having claimed the 2018 Brewer’s Cup Championship at the 2018 US Coffee Champs New Orleans Event as well as the most recent US Coffee Champs Preliminary event in Atlanta. Prevail Coffee has garnered national recognition from publications including Food & Wine Magazine, The New York Times, Garden & Gun, The USA Today and others.

Prevail has helped create opportunities in economically disadvantaged parts of the world, while establishing a network of farmers from Africa, Papua New Guinea, and Central America. Prevail’s Rwandan coffee is produced by nonprofit organization Kula Project, an organization of which Preston is a board member. Kula develops entrepreneurs through a fellowship that provides industry training, investment, and life and leadership skills to people living in poverty. Most of their fellowship members are women coffee growers or artisans.

The new store’s manager, Misha Tobler, is a veteran of the Atlanta specialty coffee scene with stops at Octane, Bar Crema, Empire State South among others before joining on to lead the Prevail Atlanta team. She will be running the store’s daily operations and will be working together with Preston to create a curated menu of specialty coffee drinks that will resonate with the neighboring community.

Tobler and Preston also have a keen eye toward shaping a community and culture around the cafe that connects the rich history of Atlanta with that of Prevail’s hometown of Montgomery. “Dr. King spent most of his career in these two cities, preaching the idea of the ‘Beloved Community’. It’s an incredibly humbling privilege to be able to be a part of the continuation of that work, in some small way, in these two places simply by serving good coffee and tending to the maintenance of a space where an authentic and diverse community can thrive.” said Wade Preston, Co-Founder of Prevail Roasters.

Located at 1050 Howell Mill Road, on the ground floor of the newly opened Star Metals Residences, Prevail is the first retail tenant to open within the 15,000 square feet of street-level upscale retail. Prevail will feature indoor and outdoor seating and provides additional privacy for residents that prefer seating in the lobby area, which boasts an expansive double-height curtainwall and glass windows.

Star Metals Residences is now open and features an amenity-rich environment, footsteps away from the everyday conveniences of its West Midtown location, including restaurants and high-end retail.

Amenities at Star Metals Residences include a resort-style rooftop pool and lounge on the 9th level of the building, indoor/outdoor space with panoramic views of the Atlanta skyline, game room, grilling area, fire pits and a state-of-the-art fitness center opening onto the pool terrace. Other amenities include 24-hour concierge service, a private outdoor dog park, pet spa, ride share room for residents, package delivery to the resident’s door, and a residents’ library with fireplace.

Situated on both sides of Howell Mill Road at 11th Street and wrapping around the fabled Northside Tavern, the unparalleled, mixed-use Star Metals Atlanta is a $344 million project which includes a 267,000 square foot office building with 30,000 square feet of retail & showroom space, 409 unit luxury apartments, and a 176 key hotel, each with ground floor and rooftop restaurants, bars and cafes.
